ABOUT

Filmmaker and visual artist based between Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro, I'm born to a Franco-Brazilian mother and a Dutch father of Surinamese descent.

My work examines how images are used and codified in modern society, building a bridge between the mechanisms of globalization and the poetics of everyday objects. Photography sits at the center of my practice, in constant collaboration with cinema, book and printmaking, and extended through drawing, performance and installation works. Along the way, the camera often gives way to other forms of recording: sunlight, weather, tides or rhythms. I often work with materials that reference labor and repetition, letting them register forces that raw data tends to leave out.

This selection traces the evolution of my practice over the last years. Across it, I keep asking how images (or all sorts of information), and the technologies behind them, shape our relationship to time, memory and place and what influence they hold in contemporary society.
